7/21/14: We've just gotten the good news that both of us have once again made finals in the AMV contest at Otakon (August 8-10 in Baltimore, MD)! Cyanna's got a brand-new video in the Romance/Sentimental category, while Scintilla has a Comedy video you might have seen in 2013 at Anime Weekend Atlanta or Youmacon. Though the con schedule isn't up yet, we are definitely planning to attend the contest screenings and the Iron Editor competition at the very least. Feel free to say hi if you spot us! We don't bite, I promise.

9/11/13: Just dropping in to say that we'll both be at Anime Weekend Atlanta 19, September 27-29 in Atlanta, GA... where we'll also both be premiering new videos! Also, Scintilla has a Creator Spotlight slot in the VAT at 10:30 - 10:45 on Saturday of the con, and we plan to hit up the Editors' Dinner on Thursday night as well... plus just generally hanging out in the VAT a lot throughout the whole weekend, in all probability. Come say hi!

2/4/12: I finally put together a collection of all of my 524 saved Away Messages from AOL Instant Messenger. It's mainly because when I run a web search to see if anyone else out there has thought of some clever twist on a phrase that I've just thought of, I usually can't find anything. So perhaps if someone else out there in the world has the same problem, s/he can find the joke they're looking for on this page and know that s/he is not alone!

It kind of runs the gamut, from simple unmodified phrases from the pop culture of my childhood (like "You are RIGHT, Mr. Fettuccine!" and "Can you believe how much... Pringles you got?") to wilfully misheard lyrics (like "Little Rock, Pasternack, Mickey Mantle, Marowak") to an awful lot of jokes that you'd need to know both very specific sources of to get (like Hoobastank meeting digital audio workstations in "AND THE PRO TOOLS IS YOU" and Beauty and the Beast vs. DDR in "Gaston, you are positively from the Nonstop Megamix" and The Critic meeting college sports in "ALL HAIL UNC! UNC IS LIFE!" and... you get the idea).

7/27/11: With one day left until Otakon, here's Scintilla's new video a little early: "AMVじゃなイカ? (An Anime Music Squideo!)" (for those that don't read Japanese, that's pronounced "AMV ja nai ka?"). It's a fun summertime video about the little squid girl who wants to conquer the human race to get back at them for their wanton pollution of the ocean... but ends up stuck working at a beach house restaurant to pay off damages. This also marks the first time AS has released a video in full HD (1080p)!
Both "AMVじゃなイカ?" and Cyanna's "The 800lb. Gorilla" (not released yet) were selected as finalists in the Dance/Upbeat category of Otakon's AMV contest!

In addition, Scintilla will be the MC for this year's Iron Editor™ competition at Otakon, in which our two contestants have only two hours to come up with the best AMV they can, out of five animé sources known in advance plus one Secret Source. There'll also be audience participation games with fabulous prizes, plus the announcement of the AMV contest winners. So come check it out: Saturday, 6:30-9:30 P.M., in Panel 1!

Update: Scintilla's new video "AMVじゃなイカ?" just took home 1st Place in the Dance/Upbeat category at Otakon! Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote on the videos and make this contest possible. AMV contests would not exist without you, the fans.

6/6/11: It's summer convention season once again! As usual, we'll be at AnimeNEXT (June 10-12 in Somerset, NJ) and Otakon (July 29-31 in Baltimore, MD), and our new 2011 AMVs will be playing at both cons. (Well, we're already confirmed as finalists at AnimeNEXT, but the Otakon finalists won't be selected for another month yet, so here's hoping.)

Also, if you're coming to AnimeNEXT, be sure to check out the brand new fan parody from NoN.D.E. Fanfilms, the same group who brought you "This Is Otakudom" and "S.T.E.A.M.: the Movie":

It'll be showing at 11 P.M. in Main Events -- I've seen the screener myself and it's hilarious, so be sure to check it out! Especially recommended to fans of Akira, Dragon Ball Z, classic video games, and other fan parodies.

Also, in case anybody cares, here's 8 years of Aquiline Studios, by the numbers.

4/4/11: Sorry for being a little late getting the site back to normal. If anyone missed what it looked like for the past three days, I'm keeping it here. (Click any link on that page for even more Engrishy fun!)

3/10/11: It's just been announced that Scintilla's "And Now, a Word From Our Sponsors" has won Best Comedy Video in the A-M-V.org Viewers Choice Awards 2011!
For those of you who don't know, the VCAs are a contest held annually (this was the 10th straight year the contest has been held!) at AnimeMusicVideos.org, in which ALL of the eligible AMVs of the past year are voted on by the ENTIRE Org community. For that reason, I'm quite honored (and somewhat shocked, considering how good the competition was) to be receiving such an award.

A big thank you to everyone who participates every year and makes the VCAs what they are!

11/3/10: Looks like the Burger Dance is spreading faster than we'd hoped -- Check out this Singaporean Zero cosplayer and his friends getting the fast food fever!

9/13/10: New video from Cyanna: "Nausea in D Major", which premiered at Otakon 2010 as a finalist in the Comedy category. Nodame Cantabile to "Weird Al" Yankovic's "I'm So Sick of You" -- I had no idea Nodame could be that slovenly. Consider it an ode to disgusting slobs in your life that you just can't get rid of. :P
Available as an MP4 (x264/AAC) only; if anyone has problems with the file, shoot me an e-mail and I'll see about getting another encode available.

Update, 9/19/10: We're proud to announce that this video just won Best Comedy at Anime Weekend Atlanta 16's Expo contest this weekend! In the same contest, Scintilla's "And Now, a Word From Our Sponsors" received the rather fitting "Product Placement Award". Once again we had a blast getting to see and hang out with everyone, and we've already registered to come back next year!

7/30/10: New video from Scintilla: "And Now, a Word From Our Sponsors", which premiered a month ago at Anime Expo 2010 (won Best in Show!) and Japan Expo International 2010 (won the audience vote!), and is seeing its East Coast debut this weekend at Otakon 2010. Code Geass supplies the Pizza Hut product placement, DJ Ötzi makes a hit out of a song you might have sung at summer camp, and it all comes together in this AMV.
Available as an MP4 (x264/AAC) or an AVI (XviD/MP3).

7/26/10: What's up, people?! Aquiline Studios is coming to Otakon 2010 starting this Thursday in Baltimore, MD -- and we've both got new AMVs in the finals of the AMV contest this year, both in the Comedy category! Scintilla's will be available for download right here, starting Friday night after the first contest screening; Cyanna's should be up shortly after the con. So watch this space for updates!
If you're going to Otakon, you'll be able to catch us at the Ten Funniest AMVs of All Time panel, at 10:30 on Saturday morning; and then, of course, we'll be at the Iron Editor at 8:30 Saturday night. We'd love to see you there!

5/14/10: Been a while since the last update; I thought I should let everybody know that we feel fantastic and we're still alive.
Last October, Cyanna's 9-minute-long epic classical video "La Cane de Feu" took 1st place in the Romance category at AnimeUSA 2009! It was the first time AnimeUSA's contest had allowed videos that long, and the success of this one convinced the coordinator to similarly do away with the video time limit for the AMV contest at Otakon 2010.

The summer con season is once again drawing nigh; as usual, we'll both be attending AnimeNEXT (June 18-20, Somerset, NJ) and Otakon (July 30-August 1, Baltimore, MD), and we may or may not have new videos at these -- it depends on whether we can get them done in time...!

9/15/09: Only two more days until Anime Weekend Atlanta 15 in Atlanta, GA! And for the first time ever, we'll both be there!
This con will mark the premiere of a new video from Cyanna, "La Cane de Feu", which was entered into the AWA Professional AMV Contest (we won't know if it won anything until we get there!). It's very much a story video, and owing to the music (suite from The Firebird), it runs over nine minutes. Be aware, though, that it contains HUGE SPOILERS for the end of Princess Tutu.

Also, my sincere apologies for not getting this up sooner, but we finally have up Cyanna's other recent video that premiered back in June at AnimeNEXT. "The Live" (BECK/Journey) was the runner-up in its category there, and just last week it went on to win an Asuka Award at Nan Desu Kan 2009!

7/22/09: The website has now been clean for a week. The attackers' IP range has been blocked, the FTP account used for the initial attacks has been deleted, and there have been no unauthorized logins since these steps were taken. It all just goes to show you the value of regular malware scans... and not using FTP programs that store your passwords unencrypted (like FileZilla, apparently).

Also, we're back from Otakon, where Scintilla's video "Love Love *SNAP*" won first place in the Upbeat/Dance category, with 34.7% of the vote. Whoohoo!

7/15/09: IMPORTANT UPDATE: IF YOU VISITED THIS WEBSITE IN THE PAST WEEK, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SYSTEM FOR MALWARE. It was brought to my attention that my site had been flagged as suspicious, and checking the files revealed four pages that had had malicious code added on 7/10/09 without my knowledge. The correct versions of all four of these have just been restored, but the attacks have not completely stopped yet. I will update this page when I am sure we are in the clear.

On a lighter note, there are only five days until Otakon. Are you ready?

6/12/09: New video from Scintilla: "Love Love *SNAP*", premiering this weekend at AnimeNEXT 2009, at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ. It's an fun upbeat little introduction to the cracky goodness that is Magical Witch Punie-chan (Dai Mahou Touge), a series that sends up the magical girl genre. Available as an MP4 (x264/AAC) or an AVI (XviD/MP3).

5/24/09: Once again the summer convention season is upon us, and you know what that means: Scintilla and Cyanna will both have new videos premiering in the AnimeNEXT 2009 AMV contest, June 12-14 at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ. We also expect to enter these videos into the contest at Otakon 2009, July 17-19 in Baltimore, MD. We'll be attending both conventions; if you see anyone wearing the yellow eagle on blue circle with black background, you can know it's one of us. :)
We'll have at least one of these new videos up here in three weeks, so watch this space for updates!

11/28/08: As of today, Aquiline Studios is a family operation. That is all.

8/8/08: New video from Cyanna: "Beauty and the Baka", which premiered at AnimeNEXT 2008 and is also a finalist in the contest this weekend at Otakon 2008. This is Cyanna's first trailer parody, about a lonely bad-mannered beast with a mysterious curse on him and the shoujo heroine who could set him free. ^_^ Available as an MP4 (x264/AAC) or an AVI (XviD/MP3).

6/21/08: New video from Scintilla: "A Raven's Pride", premiering this weekend at AnimeNEXT 2008, at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ. Character profile of Rue/Kraehe from Princess Tutu. Beware, there are some spoilers. Available as an MP4 (x264/AAC) or an AVI (XviD/MP3).

6/7/08: It's that time of year again: Scintilla and Cyanna will both have new videos premiering in the AnimeNEXT 2008 AMV contest, June 20-22 at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ. Said new videos have also been entered into the contest at Otakon 2008, August 8-10 in Baltimore, MD. We'll be attending both conventions; if you see anyone wearing the yellow eagle on blue circle with black background, you can know it's one of us. :)
We'll have at least one of these new videos up here in two weeks, so watch this space for updates!

Also, thanks to a helpful fan who pointed out that the download link for "Us Against the World" was out of date. This has been fixed.

5/17/08: Oops, just got around to noticing that Koepi's old XviD site is down -- all the text is still there, but no links to the actual files you need to download. Happily, I managed to locate his new site, and it also has the XviD binaries on it. This required updating at least three videos' pages.

3/20/08: Fixed a number of broken links in the AVISynth postprocessing filters guide. I will have to add some more when I eventually get around to finishing it.

10/11/07: Not much new to report, just a long-overdue update to the Links page. Fixed a number of broken links; however, some had to be removed outright, such as the ones for Sakkaku Studios and GreenJinjo Studios, because their sites appear to have disappeared without having moved anywhere new.

7/20/07: New video from Cyanna: "Keitaro and Naru's Christmas in July", which premiered two weeks ago at AnimeNEXT 2007 and will be showing this weekend in the finals at Otakon 2007. No spoilers that I know of. Available to download as an MP4 (from A-M-V.org) or an AVI (hosted here). Tells the story of a romance across the seasons. Awwww. :)

7/6/07: New video from Scintilla: "Restless", premiering today at AnimeNEXT 2007, at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ. Shounen-ai. No spoilers that I know of. Download available in THREE different flavors, so something for everyone. ^_^

6/10/07: We're not dead yet! Both of us will have new videos premiering in the AMV contest at AnimeNEXT 2007, July 6-8, at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ. Scintilla will also be appearing on the AMV panel at the con. Cyanna's new video is also entered in the contest for Otakon 2007, July 20-22, in Baltimore, MD. So watch this space for updates!

12/15/06: New addition to the videos page: there is now a list of all the videos we've made (plus "The Prescott Affair") in alphabetical order, for the sake of those who come to this website looking for a particular video but don't know which one of us made it. Hope this helps. ^_^

11/11/06: Scintilla's Guide to Using DVD Footage in Windows Movie Maker 2 and Scintilla's Guide to Encoding AMVs to MPEG for Convention Submission are now mirrored at AnimeMusicVideos.org! (Thanks to Doki Doki for getting them up.) The Links page has been updated accordingly, along with some other updates to it that were a little overdue.

9/7/06: The "We've moved!" redirect pages are up back at my TCNJ space. Please update your links and bookmarks if you haven't already.

Also, I uploaded a copy of the AVI version of "The Prescott Affair", since the AcStudios website has been down since forever and I didn't have a copy of the MPEG-1, and fixed up the links on the page appropriately.

8/29/06: Almost all the site's pages have been updated with META tag keywords, for better search engine visibility (we hope). Also, a copy of "These Angel Hearts" is now hosted right here on our site; the broken SHU link has been removed, and the information has been updated to reflect the fact that the copy on A-M-V.org is no longer the out of date copy.

8/14/06: The entire Aquiline Studios website has been moved to my BlueHost space.
Thus, http://www.aquilinestudios.org will no longer redirect to my TCNJ space, because it doesn't need to anymore.

I will soon be replacing all the pages left on my TCNJ space with "We've moved! Please update your bookmarks. Redirecting in 5..." messages (too bad there's no way to automate the process).
After that, the only way to get to the site will be via the domain name http://www.aquilinestudios.org

If anyone still has links starting with http://www.tcnj.edu/~tomwol2 , please update them accordingly. Thank you.

Also, while you're here, check out Mancer's Three Second Anime Summaries; I did NOT write them, but I'm preserving them on this website because I can no longer find them anywhere else (I think I had to retrieve the page from archive.org), and I think they're funny enough that they deserve a permanent spot somewhere.
