Planted: In ground, October 2019

First flowering: August 2020?

(This plant stayed behind when I moved in 2021; therefore, the following text will receive no further updates.)

Roots were beginning to go around the pot, but I don't think I saw any that went all the way around. It seemed like a fairly dense root system that should serve the plant well as long as nothing starts girdling. Since the drainage isn't good in the back foundation area where it was planted, I kept the root ball mostly intact so that the fast-draining potting medium should be able to prevent the plant from drowning.

I have read that crapemyrtles take a long time to break dormancy in the spring, and that certainly seems true so far of this one; it was not until the beginning of May that I finally saw the slightest bits of red new growth showing on the stems.

As of August 2020, the Pocomoke hasn't grown very impressively, but it has finally begun to show some flower buds, which is a notable improvement considering that the three Dynamite crapemyrtles nearby started flowering back in July. Perhaps the afternoon shade has something to do with this delay.
